Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Information Assurance and Privacy
Andrew Orndorff was appointed in May 2008 to the position of Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Information Assurance and Privacy, and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT). In his role of ACIO/CISO, Andrew oversees the cybersecurity and information assurance at DOT, both tactically and strategically, including policy, procedures, continuity planning, and compliance with existing statutes and regulations.
He has more than 21 years of experience in information technology, the last eleven in leadership roles for the federal government. Andrew is a proponent of business-driven, collaborative solutions development, and the strategic use of open source and cloud solutions.
Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, with a focus on the application of information technology to solving engineering design problems. He lives with his wife and their family pets near Annapolis, Maryland.
